In response to the Modi government’s recent reduction of cooking gas cylinder prices by a mere Rs 200 during the festive season, the Congress party has launched a scathing critique. Former Chief Parliamentary Secretary and PCC Vice President Anita Varma spearheaded the attack, describing the move as an attempt to deceive the public.

Anita Verma asserted that the formula of increasing cylinder prices by Rs 700 and then reducing them by Rs 200 during election times is beyond comprehension. She pointed out that in the international market, gas prices are significantly lower, and after burdening the public with expensive cylinders for years, reducing the cost by a paltry Rs 200 just before elections is a clear political maneuver.
She emphasized that the BJP will not gain any advantage from this tactic as the common people are fully aware of the government’s tactics. She argued that the BJP’s strategy of first increasing inflation and then making token reductions during election seasons will not go unnoticed. The public is well-informed, and they won’t be swayed by such tactics.
Anita Verma further criticized the government for imposing GST on essential food items like wheat and milk, despite earlier promises not to do so. Verma claimed that this move is aimed at benefiting the few wealthy individuals connected to the government, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration being complicit in this effort.
