Rotary Club Hamirpur Champions Women’s Health with Free Cancer Screening Camp

– In a significant stride towards women’s healthcare, the Rotary Club of Hamirpur, under the aegis of Rotary International District 3070, organized a comprehensive free Mammography and Cervical Cancer screening camp at Gandhi Chowk on November 16, 2025. The camp aimed to provide critical preventive healthcare services to women, emphasizing early detection and awareness.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Nishant Malhotra, who commended the Rotary Club for its unwavering commitment to social welfare, particularly in the spheres of health and the environment. “Rotary is fulfilling its social responsibility by undertaking praiseworthy work for women’s health and empowerment,” Dr. Malhotra stated, applauding the initiative as a crucial step towards building a healthier community.

This specialized health camp was a part of a larger, state-wide health campaign run by Rotary Clubs across various districts of Himachal Pradesh from November 6 to November 18, which was initially launched in Bilaspur.

Dr. Bhagwati Prasad Sharma, President of the Rotary Club Hamirpur, urged all women in the region to take advantage of the free screenings. “We appeal to every woman to benefit from this camp, remain vigilant about their health, and take a step towards a healthier life,” Dr. Sharma proclaimed during the event.

The camp witnessed an encouraging turnout, with over 60 women from Hamirpur and its adjoining areas availing themselves of the vital screenings. The initiative was bolstered by the collaborative support of A.S. Memorial Thakur Hospital, Hamirpur, and Dr. Shobha Thakur.


The event saw the presence of several distinguished members of the community. Inner Wheel Club members, including Hina Chauhan, Shobha Thakur, Meena Sharma, Chetna Sharma, and Leela Dheeman, were present alongside Rotarians Dr. Prem Thakur, Professor J.P., Vijay Chopra, Agnihotri, Ravi Sharma, Ashok Thakur, Rakesh Kumar, Arun Kapil, Dr. Harsh Kalia, Sumit Jain, and Pravin Kumar. Club Secretary, Dr. Vivek Sharma, was also notably present, underscoring the collective effort behind the camp’s success.

This initiative stands as a testament to Rotary Club Hamirpur’s dedication to fostering community health and empowering women through accessible and proactive medical care.
