In a significant push to revitalize its grassroots machinery, the Indian National Congress has launched an extensive “Organizational Rejuvenation Campaign.” The initiative was formally unveiled by Member of Parliament Shaktisinh Gohil, who declared that a systemic “change is imperative” to meet the demands of the contemporary political landscape.
Addressing a press conference at the Circuit House on Wednesday, the Rajya Sabha MP stated that the party is embarking on a mission to forge a “stronger and more responsible” organizational structure, one that is accountable not just during elections but remains agile year-round.
“No entity is designed to last forever without adaptation,” Gohil asserted. “There was a time when the organization was in good shape, but circumstances have evolved. In this technological age, we can communicate face-to-face with any district president across the country. We must integrate this new reality into our party’s fabric.”
Reflecting on the Congress’s tenure in the region, Gohil underscored Hamirpur’s developmental milestones. “If any party has consistently worked for national development, it is the Congress. It is thanks to Congress-led governments that Hamirpur boasts one of the highest literacy rates in the country, our youth serve in the armed forces in significant numbers, and we secured institutions like the NIT,” he remarked.
Shifting focus to the present, the MP shared the concerns of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), stressing the need for fixed accountability within the party ranks. “A robust organization is the very foundation of a public-serving government,” he said.
In a direct critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Gohil highlighted the Congress’s internal democratic processes. “In the Congress, the national president is elected through a transparent process, whereas in the BJP, presidents are imposed from the top down,” he stated, drawing a clear ideological distinction.
On the critical issue of selecting Lok Sabha candidates, Gohil clarified that all decisions would be data-driven, based on comprehensive reports prepared by the party high command. He promised a thorough review of entrenched issues like factionalism and performance, with a pivotal new emphasis on incorporating feedback from the grassroots workers.
Outlining the future blueprint, Gohil announced a “talent hunt” to identify and promote capable individuals. He revealed that once district presidents are appointed, their activities would be closely monitored from a central “war room” in Delhi. Furthermore, workers will be properly trained before being deployed in the field.
Expressing unwavering confidence in the local cadre, Gohil concluded, “I am certain that the workers of Hamirpur possess the strength to reduce the BJP to zero.” He affirmed that meetings with workers would continue relentlessly until the organizational revamp is complete.
The event was attended by several prominent figures, including the Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Naresh Chauhan, MLA Suresh Kumar, Congress leader Dr. Puspendra Verma, former MLA Kuldeep Pathania, and President Suman Bharati.
