Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, after disbursing millions under the state government’s announced relief package in Hamirpur district, engaged in a heated exchange with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Union Minister Anurag Thakur during a press interaction. Chief Minister Sukhu seized the opportunity to criticize Thakur’s handling of the delayed construction of the Hamirpur Medical College, sarcastically suggesting that Thakur should first demonstrate the efficiency he claims by bringing the rail link from Una to Hamirpur. On the issue of corruption surrounding the inauguration of crushers by Union Minister Anurag Thakur, Chief Minister Sukhu asserted that these questions should have been raised during Thakur’s own government tenure. He emphasized that all crushers in the state were opened during the BJP government, and the Congress government has made the announcement to open crushers with complete documentation.
Sukhu invited Thakur to inform them if he believes corruption is occurring, asserting that they can be kept informed about it. Addressing the expansion of the state cabinet, Chief Minister Sukhu hinted at the possibility of cabinet expansion in Himachal Pradesh following the results of the assembly elections in five states. He clarified that decisions on cabinet expansion would be made in accordance with high command directives. Former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur’s comments on legislator voting in municipal elections drew criticism from Chief Minister Sukhu. He stated that the Congress government has not introduced any new amendments, and the provision for legislator voting was already in place during the previous government’s time. Criticizing the BJP, he accused them of deceiving the public. Regarding the candidate selection for the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Sukhu indicated that the party’s high command would make decisions based on the issue. He emphasized that the focus should be on party symbols rather than individual personalities in the electoral battle.
