In a significant move, the Education Department has suspended Principal Chaman Lal of Government Senior Secondary School Kathiana, located in Badsar tehsil , district of Hamirpur, for misconduct towards students from the same school. This action follows written complaints from students, indicating a serious stance taken by the department. Remarkably, the department swiftly acted, suspending the principal just four days after receiving the complaints and conducting a thorough investigation. As per orders issued by Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, the suspended principal Chaman Lal’s headquarters have been shifted to the Director of Higher Education in Shimla. It’s noteworthy that on February 19th, students of the tenth grade from Government Senior Secondary School Kathiana sent a complaint letter to the Deputy Director of Higher Education, Hamirpur, against the principal. In the complaint, students recounted an incident where the principal entered their classroom during the eighth period around 2 PM on February 19th and interrogated them about their whereabouts during the fifth period. When the students mentioned they were with the school’s Ashok Kumar sir in the lab, the principal forced them to write an application stating they were not with Ashok Kumar at that time. Despite repeated assertions of being with their teacher, the principal resorted to verbal abuse. Not stopping there, he even threatened a student named Swati, saying he would hit her with a shoe. Subsequently, the student began to cry, and later, she informed all the other teachers in the school about the incident. The principal and the Deputy Director of Higher Education were apprised of the situation. The complaint letter from the students also mentioned that the principal threatened to fail them. Following the receipt of this complaint and after a thorough investigation, the Education Department suspended the principal.
