The election atmosphere in Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency has become quite intriguing. After yesterday’s massive turnout for Congress candidate Satpal Rajajada’s nomination, today witnessed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Candidate and Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur launching his victorious campaign, showcasing his grip and strength on the ground. Thakur’s rally saw participation from his supporters across all 17 assembly constituencies of the Hamirpur parliamentary area. The rally was so crowded that the venue seemed insufficient, with many unable to even reach the site.

What made this rally particularly noteworthy was the presence of Professor Prem Kumar Dhumal, who, after a long hiatus, joined a BJP rally, describing it as his biggest and historic rally of his life.
Now, with both major party contenders facing off in the Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency, the battleground appears set. While Congress aims to focus more on local issues, BJP is striving to frame the election around national issues and the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This time, there are by-elections in four assembly constituencies – Sujanpur, Badsar, Bangana, and Chintpurni – within this parliamentary constituency. Consequently, Congress seems to be directing more attention towards these by-elections. After six Congress MLAs joined BJP following the Rajya Sabha elections in the state, four of them are now trying their luck with BJP in these by-elections, providing Congress with a visible boost in its cadre support and bolstering its chances of winning.
BJP benefits from Anurag Thakur’s national political stature and strong influence of Prem Kumar Dhumal in all assembly segments of this Lok Sabha constituency.
Meanwhile, Congress has launched its rally with the slogan “Sukhu-Mukesh-Rajijada, Khushaal Hamirpur ka Wada” indicating their intent to contest this election with the names of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukku and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri. The presence of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister from the same constituency is favoring Congress’s prospects.
Though the election is still three weeks away, the political heat is rising in Hamirpur alongside the soaring temperatures. As the election draws nearer, it promises to be an intriguing contest for prominent personalities. As the election approaches, the battle will only get more captivating.
