Vishal Rana, Hamirpur
A young female bank employee was found dead under suspicious circumstances in her rented room in Sera village under Nadaun police station limits, sending shockwaves through Hamirpur. The victim’s family has vehemently rejected the possibility of suicide, instead accusing unknown assailants of murder and alleging a police cover-up.
The deceased, who had been living separately from her husband amid an ongoing legal battle over unpaid maintenance, reportedly faced harassment before her death. Her parents, Dharmchand and Sureshna Devi, revealed that unidentified individuals had confronted her just a day before the incident. “Our daughter would never take such a step—this is cold-blooded murder,” they insisted, dismissing the suicide note as fabricated. “The handwriting doesn’t match hers. This is a staged crime.”
With grief and anger, the family—including her brother Balwinder and sisters Maya, Vandana, and Jyoti—has approached the district administration and Superintendent of Police, demanding a CBI inquiry. “We will not rest until the truth comes out,” they declared, accusing local police of tampering with evidence.
While SP Bhagat Singh Thakur assured a “fair and transparent probe,” public skepticism grows as protests mount for justice in what many believe is a sinister crime disguised as suicide.
