The Indian National Congress has strengthened its national media strategy by forming a 140-member team of spokespersons from across the country. Among those selected is Deepak Sharma, a senior leader from the Himachal Pradesh Congress.
Sharma currently serves as the National Coordinator of the All India Kisan Congress and holds additional responsibilities as the party’s in-charge for Jammu & Kashmir and Jharkhand. He also oversees the media management for the Kisan Congress at the national level. With over two decades of experience as a spokesperson for the Himachal Pradesh Congress, Sharma brings both organizational expertise and media acumen to his role.
The decision to include Sharma in this elite panel came after a high-level meeting in Delhi, where senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera, and K. Raju, briefed selected spokespersons on the party’s policy positions and communication strategy. Notably, Sharma was one of only two leaders from Himachal Pradesh invited to the meeting—the other being national spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Rathore.
Party insiders attribute Sharma’s selection to his consistent advocacy for Congress policies and his sharp rebuttals to BJP’s criticisms, particularly on farmer-related issues. Over the past two years, he has played a key role in shaping the party’s outreach to the agricultural community, a critical voter base for the Congress.
