Former Chief Minister’s Security Officer Reinstated to Constable Rank

State Corrospondent, Shimla

On Saturday, a wave of commotion swept through the police headquarters when an order for the demotion of an ASI in the Himachal Pradesh Police was issued. Later, it was revealed that this ASI had previously served as the security officer of the former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur. On Saturday, Bhupinder Kumar, the security officer of Jairam Thakur, was reinstated to the rank of constable and ASI, rescinding the promotion orders issued by the Police Department.

The orders have been issued by the police headquarters. The orders released by the police headquarters refer to the compliance with a judgment from the High Court of Himachal Pradesh in the case of Vikas vs. State of Himachal Pradesh. Following the recommendation of the Review Departmental Promotion Committee, the promotion orders for Constable Bhupinder Kumar to ASI and Head Constable have now been revoked. Following these orders, Bhupinder Kumar has been immediately reverted to the position of constable within the police department.
