Renouned social worker form district Hamirpur, Ravindra Singh Dogra has once again demonstrated his commitment to social welfare by achieving a significant milestone. This achievement revolves around the story of Kaushalya Devi, a widow residing in the Kakkar Panchayat of the Sujanpur Vidhan Sabha constituency.
Kaushalya Devi’s husband, Havaldar late Duni Chand, served in the Army’s 105 Infantry Battalion and joined as a soldier in 1959. However, after 15 years of service, the Army sent him back home due to no further requirement in 1974. Unfortunately, during his entire service and post-retirement, he did not receive any pension, financial assistance, or benefits from the military.
Kaushalya Devi and her son Sunil Kumar tried to seek help from high-ranking officers in the Army, including captains and colonels, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. The situation became so dire that even some people in the locality mocked their attempts, believing that there was no hope of resolving such a complex case.
After enduring 22 years of hardship, Kausalya Devi received a piece of advice from a freedom fighter’s family to seek help from Ravindra Singh Dogra. In 2021, she approached him with her case, and he took up the challenge. Over the course of three years, through his relentless efforts and without any personal gain, Ravindra Singh Dogra successfully resolved this complex case that had lingered for 25 years.
Finally, the army acknowledged the veracity of Dogra’s claims, leading to the decision to grant pension to Kaushalya Devi. This case not only highlights Ravindra Singh Dogra’s dedication to social service but also underscores the importance of persistent advocacy for justice.
It’s noteworthy that Ravindra Singh Dogra’s exceptional contributions to social service have earned him three nominations for the prestigious Padma Shri award, showcasing the impact of his outstanding work on the community.
