MLA Rajender Rana Advocates Local Representation in NIT Hamirpur Board of Governors to Tackle Drug Menace and Mismanagement

Vishal Rana, Hamirpur

In a passionate address to the media in Hamirpur today, MLA Rajender Rana raised a clarion call for improved governance at NIT Hamirpur, demanding the inclusion of local representatives in the Board of Governors (BOG) for enhanced oversight.

Rana expressed deep concern over a recent tragedy at NIT Hamirpur, where a student lost their life due to a heroin overdose. He attributed this unfortunate incident to the mismanagement within the NIT administration. What further troubled him was the conspicuous silence of Union Minister Anurag Thakur on this pressing issue.

“Ensuring checks and balances within the NIT administration is crucial,” Rana emphasized. “Local representatives, including MLAs and Zila Parishad members, should be integral parts of the BOG to bridge the gap between the institution and the community it serves.”

Furthermore, Rana noted that corruption and nepotism had been longstanding issues at NIT Hamirpur, but the recent surge in drug-related incidents has cast a dark shadow on the institution’s reputation. He has called upon the central government to swiftly address these institutional shortcomings and implement necessary reforms.

In this pressing matter, MLA Rajender Rana stands as a voice for accountability and change, urging authorities to act promptly to restore NIT Hamirpur’s honor and ensure the safety and well-being of its students.
