District Hamirpur, is all set to host the 24th edition of the Forest Games and Duty Meet-2023. For the second time in 24 years, has the honor for Hamirpur district of hosting this prestigious competition. Taking place over three days from December 15 to 17, the event will unfold at the vicinity of the Hamirpur Sports Complex.
A total of 700 athletes from 13 teams, including 10 circles of the Forest Department, Wildlife Wing, Directorate, and Himachal Pradesh State Forest Development Corporation, will participate. Nearly 100 female athletes are expected to be part of this grand event, featuring competitions on the synthetic track at the sports complex.
Mr. Rakesh Sharma, the Forest Divisional Officer in Hamirpur, shared details during a press conference, revealing that the meet encompasses sports like table tennis, chess, carrom, kabaddi, badminton, volleyball, and athletics. This edition introduces new elements, including the inaugural racing competition for drivers. For the first time, a display showcasing three different performances will provide insights into the Forest Department’s activities.
Cultural and other competitions will take place in the Degree College examination hall during this period. Notably, the theme for this Sports Meet is “Fitness for Nature.” Interestingly, employees both in the office and in the field, including officers and staff, can participate. The inclusion of an online competition facilitates remote participation, ensuring that even those handling department vehicles have a separate running competition organized for them.
