Vishal Rana
In a strong show of solidarity, doctors across Himachal Pradesh will go on strike from Saturday 6 AM to Sunday 6 AM, suspending medical services in both government and private hospitals. The strike is in protest against the shocking incident of rape and murder of a junior doctor at a medical college in West Bengal.

The Resident Doctors’ Association of IGMC (Indira Gandhi Medical College) organized a candlelight march on Friday evening, braving heavy rain, to demand justice for the victim Hundreds of doctors participated in the march, underscoring their outrage and calling for strict action against the culprits.

While outpatient services (OPD) will remain closed during the strike, emergency services will continue to operate. However, doctors will only be available for critical cases. Dr. Rajesh Rana, President of the State Medical Officers Association, assured that emergency services will remain unaffected, but all routine OPD services will be halted in support of the protest.
