The first cyber data center in Himachal Pradesh has been established at the Cyber Cell in Shimla, with the formal inauguration of the “Cyber Station One Data Center” scheduled soon. This center will significantly expedite the resolution of cybercrime complaints across the state. In its initial phase, the center will consist of 12 to 15 data anti-stations, equipped to handle cybercrime cases efficiently.
Two police personnel will be stationed at the Cyber Station One Data Center to address complaints, ensuring that victims’ grievances are recorded in detail through phone calls. Additionally, an NGO-ranked officer will serve as the team leader, while the SP office will monitor the data anti-stations 24/7 via a central dashboard.
Residents of Himachal can register their complaints 24 hours a day on the toll-free cyber helpline number 1930. This helpline was integrated with the NCRB portal on July 29, leading to a substantial increase in efficiency. Over 250 complaints are registered daily from across the state, highlighting the need for this data center.
The recovery rate in cyber fraud cases has shown a remarkable improvement, rising from 3% to 11%. In just two months, cyber fraudsters have swindled around ₹8.16 crore from people, but the Cyber Cell team has successfully recovered ₹87 lakh of this amount.
Cyber Crime Cases to be Resolved Faster in the State
DIG Cyber Crime, Mohit Chawla, stated that the establishment of this first-of-its-kind cyber data center in Himachal will provide comprehensive training for police personnel in three phases, making the resolution of cybercrime cases faster and more efficient.
This data center is a significant step towards ensuring a safer digital environment for the citizens of Himachal Pradesh.
