Government Must Act Swiftly to Provide Relief to Patients
Vishal Rana, Hamirpur
Narendra Atri, State Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has strongly criticized the state Congress government, accusing it of failing to deliver on its promises during its two-year tenure. Speaking on the current healthcare crisis, Atri highlighted that the Congress government has not only fallen short of fulfilling its election guarantees but has also undermined key initiatives launched by the previous BJP government in the fields of education and healthcare.
Atri expressed grave concern over the Him Care Scheme, a vital health program initiated by the BJP government, being neglected under the current administration. He argued that this neglect has put the lives of hundreds of critically ill patients at risk, calling the government’s approach “highly irresponsible and unfortunate.”
Citing an example, Atri shed light on the plight of Manoj Kumar, a former inter-college champion in hammer throw, who has been battling severe kidney disease for the past two years. Kumar requires dialysis three times a week and must travel to Chandigarh or Hamirpur for treatment, a financial burden he can no longer sustain. Previously, his treatment was covered under the Him Care card, but with private hospitals now refusing treatment under the scheme, Kumar faces insurmountable medical expenses.
Atri emphasized that many patients, like Manoj Kumar, are enduring immense hardship due to the scheme’s discontinuation. He urged the state government to act with humanity and immediately reinstate the Him Care Scheme to alleviate the suffering of countless families across the state.
“This is not just about politics; it’s about saving lives. The government must prioritize the health and well-being of its citizens and ensure that this essential healthcare program runs smoothly,” Atri said.
