Former MLA Rajendra Rana Slams State Government, Accuses It of Corruption and Flouting Rules

Vishal Rana, Hamirpur

Former MLA Rajendra Rana launched a scathing attack on the state government today, addressing journalists and leveling serious allegations against rampant corruption and arbitrary practices in various departments.

Rana highlighted irregularities in the Public Works Department (PWD) of Hamirpur, where a Suprintendent Engineer rank officer has been given additional charge as Chief Engineer despite being fifth in the seniority list. “This is a blatant violation of rules,” he said. “Even the High Court declared this appointment illegal and ordered its cancellation, yet the government continues to disregard the court’s directive.”

He further accused the government of financial mismanagement, stating, “The government recently acted as if it was doing the public a favor by releasing ₹200 crores in pending payments, but thousands of crores remain unpaid. This administration is suffering from a chronic disease of inefficiency, and people from every section of society are suffering due to its arbitrary decisions.”

Rana also brought up the multi-crore scam in the Pekhubal Solar Power Plant, questioning the government’s silence. “The government has not even responded to this scandal. Does this imply tacit approval?”

In a direct appeal to the public, he warned, “If this government’s unchecked autocracy is not stopped, the future of the state will be bleak. The people must raise their voices for their rights.” He also issued a stern warning to officials who believe they can bypass the law under political patronage, assuring that “once the BJP comes to power, strict action will be taken against all guilty employees.”

Rana’s fiery remarks have intensified the political heat in Hamirpur, putting the state government under renewed scrutiny.
