Himachal Pradesh Patwari and Kanungo Union Calls Off Strike After Meeting with CM Sukhu

Pledges One-Day Salary to Relief Fund

In a significant development, the Patwari and Kanungo Union of Himachal Pradesh has decided to resume work following a crucial meeting with Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in Dehra on August 15, 2024. During the meeting, the Chief Minister assured the delegation that their legitimate demands would be addressed with a positive outlook.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the decision to integrate Patwaris and Kanungos into the state cadre is a strategic policy of the government. He urged the union members to cooperate with the government’s initiative, underscoring the vital role Patwaris and Kanungos play in implementing government schemes at the grassroots level. He also highlighted that the government is working in mission mode to resolve the problems faced by the common people, and the involvement of Patwaris and Kanungos is crucial in this endeavor.

CM Sukhu reassured the delegation of the government’s commitment to enhancing their benefits. He mentioned that the state government has reinstated the Old Pension Scheme and that the financial liabilities of the employees would be cleared in a phased manner.

Satish Chaudhary, the president of the Patwari and Kanungo Union, affirmed that the union members are committed to working with utmost dedication and integrity to ensure the successful implementation of all government schemes. He announced that all Patwaris and Kanungos would donate one day’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania, MLAs Sanjay Ratna, Sudarshan Bablu, and Malender Rajan, former MLA Ajay Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary Omkar Chand Sharma, and other office bearers of the Patwari and Kanungo Union.
