“NIT Hamirpur Faces Hurdles in Architecture Studies Without COA Registration Approval”

Vishal Rana/ Hamirpur

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur, a renowned educational institution, is facing a major setback in its architecture department. The Department of Architecture is now embroiled in a struggle as it hasn’t received approval from the Council of Architecture (COA). Hundreds of students are now concerned about their future since it is essential for institutions offering architectural studies to be registered with the COA for licensing after completing their education.

Despite several years since its establishment, NIT Hamirpur’s Department of Architecture is yet to be registered with the Council of Architecture. This raises questions about accountability within the esteemed institution. Moreover, NIT Hamirpur’s ranking has been adversely affected in recent years, being excluded from the top 200 institutions. Such oversights have raised concerns about the institute’s reputation and quality of education.

NIT Hamirpur’s administration claims to have already initiated the registration process with the Council of Architecture, submitting multiple written applications. They believe that the approval will be granted soon, ensuring that students do not face any hurdles regarding their future prospects. The concerned department has been directed to address this matter promptly.

Inadequate Staff Hinders Students’ Progress

The students of NIT Hamirpur have openly expressed their concern to the administration through a collective letter, signed by all. In the letter, they not only demand a swift resolution to the COA registration issue but also urge the improvement of facilities within the Department of Architecture. The lack of adequate staff has severely impacted the quality of education provided, and students are facing difficulties due to the low student-to-faculty ratio.

Importance of COA Registration

For any institution to offer architectural studies, approval from the Ministry of Education and registration with the Council of Architecture are crucial. After completing their studies, students require COA licensing to pursue jobs in the field. NIT Hamirpur’s students are worried about their future since the registration process has not been completed even after nearly four years of establishment.

It is imperative for NIT Hamirpur to address these issues promptly to ensure that students can pursue their academic and professional aspirations without hindrance. The administration must take immediate action to secure COA registration and improve the educational experience for aspiring architects.
