Himachal Pradesh Government Set to Decide on Merger of 23 Boards and Corporations Today

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to Assess Financial Status in High-Level Meeting

The Himachal Pradesh government is poised to make a significant decision regarding the merger of 23 state boards and corporations today. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has convened a crucial meeting with departmental secretaries to review the financial conditions of these entities. The Chief Secretary will also be present at this meeting, where discussions will focus on the current state of these boards and corporations, and potential alignments with other similar entities.

This merger proposal has been under consideration for several years. Last year, the Sukhu government announced a decision to merge the Agro Industries Corporation with HPMC, but the process has been delayed due to its complexity. Most of these entities have been operational for many years and are registered under the Companies Act, making the merger process challenging.

The government aims to consolidate corporations and boards that perform similar functions, particularly those running at a loss, in an effort to improve efficiency and profitability. The outcome of today’s meeting could set the stage for a more streamlined and financially viable structure within the state’s administrative framework.
